National

Stuart Feinhor - Have no idea what the debt limit committee will do; spending cuts are
over 10 years, little immediate impact. People don’t realize the age for Social
Security is already being slowly raised to 67. Discussion of tax holiday (Obama
plan); won’t it undermine Social Security and Medicare? Stuart will look into it.

Rosemary Rodriguez - Betty Sweeney retired, will be assuming some of her duties. She
recommends reading Senator Bennet’s newsletters.

Action Items from last meeting

  1. Health care costs that drive inflation - Barbara Wilcox has researched; will make a list of cost drivers she has found.
  2. Revised RMAC agenda to include “Misuse of Medicare residency payments” - Completed
  3. Revise Medicare Catastrophic Coverage white paper to include CBO Option 21 with tiered deductibles - John Kotson has done a revision of white paper; Barbara Wilcox wants to reduce it to 2 pages.
  4. Determine if Medicare Trust Fund Report includes savings under the ACA-John Rommelfanger has researched; does include savings defined by the ACA.
  5. Does ACO charter include enabling Medicare savings through initiatives such as Medicare clinics and bundling of payments - short answer yes; Medicare and ACA have many pilot projects for revised forms of payment. ACO’s would be like clinics, but not Medicare
    specific.
